Excellent samples of Tinian, folk architecture and trademark of Tinos which you will find sparse in cultivated fields and ravines. The elaborate white houses for Aphrodite’s birds were built of whitewash and slates by Tinian, inspired craftsmen during 18th – 19th century for the breeding of pigeons because of their delicious meat. There are eleven well-preserved dovecotes in the green valley of Tarampados while it is estimated that there are over 600 in the entire island!
