Monastery Of Kira Kseni
Isternia 842 01, GreeceA building of the 18th century (1732-1756), near Marlas settlement in Exo Meria. According to tradition, a ship from Dardanelia which was sailing around Panormos, almost shipwrecked because of the bad weather. The captain begged Panagia to save the crew and in exchange he would become a monk. Indeed, everyone was saved and the foreign captain (that’s why it is called Panagia Kyra-Xeni) built the monastery in Marlas and lived a monk Kallinikos. The monastery celebrates the first Sunday after each August 15th.
