City Hall Of Syros

Platia Miaouli, Siros Ermoupoli 841 00, Greece
Category : SIGHTS
Location : SYROS

The project of the German architect Ernest Chiller is one of largest city halls in Greece. The impressive building that comes very close to a typical royal residence, has been adorning Miaouli square since 1898 (the foundation was laid in 1876). The City Hall has three floors as you look at it from the Square but because of the altitude difference becomes two-storey from the back street. In the internal part, the 16 columns, the enormous marble stair of 16m width, the alternating of renaissance and classical genre but also the conference hall with king George A’ and queen Olga’s full-length oil paintings are breathtaking.
