Apollo Theater

The exquisite two-storey building, located in I. Vardakas square in Ermoupoli, was erected in 1864 and it was designed by the Italian architect Pietro Sampo. It constitutes a great token of cultural progress of the island as its internal formation, with the orchestra, the scene, the rows of wood loges, the loft and the masterpiece of the painted ceiling bring in mind of La Scala in Milan and generally, of the prestigious European theatres. In the Apollon scene, they have been performed very important operas and operettas while nowadays, the performances of the local amateur theatre companies as well as the annual event “Ermoupolia” are hosted.
Opening hours: Monday-Thursday & Sunday 11:00-14:00, Friday-Saturday 11:00-14:00 and 18:00-20:00
