Panagia Gremniotissa
Ios 840 01, GreeceIt prevails at the top of a hill, in Chora of Ios, next to the cliff –that is why it is called “Gremniotisa”.According to tradition, the church was built during the Ottoman Greece when the residents of Mylopotas found the icon of Panagia (it was thrown in the sea by the Cretans so as not to be destroyed by the Turkish). Then, they decided to build a church near to the metropolis. However, every day they were finding the building in ruins and the icon at the spot where Panagia Gremniotisa was built.
