Lefkes, the village-experience of the Parian hinterland

A handful of whitewashed houses perched on Parian hills, concealed from the sea; a polished piece of art of the hinterland and a paradise for the visitor. Lefkes village, amphitheatrically built at a height of 820 feet,  stands proudly among olive trees and 15 churches as the perfect destination for those in need of a break from the fast pace of Naoussa and Parikia.

Uneven pedestrian paths, characteristic island arches, doll-like shops, country churches and a hilly background compose a traditional jigsaw puzzle ideal for dreamers and introverts alike. A stroll around Agia Triada square will convince you of its place among the most beautiful of the Cyclades, while a walk on the central cobblestoned street of the village Ramnos will lead you at the House of Literature, where scholars, writers and translators work undistractedly.

If you find yourself there at dusk, humor your feet with a stroll down the thousand-year-old Byzantine trail, layered with Parian marble, stretching from Lefkes to Prodromos village, paved through olive groves, vineyards and mountain slopes.
