Industrial Museum of HermoupolisErmoupoli, Greece
Next to the neo-classical buildings of the 19th century, the industry stacks, the winches and tugs of Neorio, there are the three buildings that Ermoupoli Municipality has donated for the establishment of the Industrial Museum. This museum aims at promoting the historic wealth of the commercial, maritime and industrial life of Syros. Its collection designates the industrial heritage of the island through twenty preserved machines, tools and equipment of tannery manufacturing, naval architecture and engineering. The visitor can also see in images the port during steam era or watch industrial processes via the screens of the exhibition. Additionally, he will get to know the history of trade through the feminine modern clothes store in the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition takes place in Katsimantis Dyeworks, Aneroussis Lead Shot Factory Building and Kornilakis Tannery building.
