Founded in 1834-35, the Archaeological Museum constitutes one of the oldest museums in Greece. It is housed in the splendid Ermoupoli City Hall building which was designed by Chiller and it includes three halls with relief patterns from Amorgos, sculptures, inscriptions, and several burial stone from the Hellenistic period and Romanian times. Among the most significant exhibits of the museum, you will find the grave goods from the 600 graves which were discovered at Chalandriani prehistoric settlement on the eastern part of Syros, as well as the Egyptian figurine of Anapis made of black granite and dates back in 730bC.
