Odysseas Elytis Theater in Ios island

Odysseas Elytis Theater in Ios island

The world feels so much different when you’re gazing it from high above: full of colors, aromas and harmony. When you have the chance to do so by standing at the natural balcony of Odysseas Elytis Open Theater, it smells of thyme and sea breeze, offering a majestic view to Mylopotas Bay.

German architect Peter Haupt immortalized his love for Ios by designing a replica of an ancient Greek open air theater according to the standards of those found in Magna Grecia, thus giving the Tsoukalaria site (at the end of Windmills area) a place among the most known vantage points of the island.
